NBA Early Season Update

About a quarter of the way into the season, here is how things are shaping up so far:

In the East, the Raptors, Bucks and 76ers(!) are clear cut kings of the East so far. The Kawhi Leonard trade is paying off handsomely for the Raptors and the Spurs definitely got the short end of the stick on that deal. Bad move by Pop letting that stud go but too late now. Giannis is a freak of nature, like a younger and better KD in my opinion. Kid can do it all. He’s got my vote for MVP this year. And finally the 76ers. The freakin 76ers. Looks the the process has been working, and since acquiring Jimmy Butler, the team has quickly become a real threat to make a run deep into the playoffs. With little proven post-season experience though it remains a question if they have what it takes to make it out of the East semis.

Oh and my Celtics are playing like crap this year. I don’t know what the reason for this 180 in performance is, but I’m hoping Brad Stevens can pull em out of this rut.

As for the West, if you would have told me last year at this time the Clippers would be number one in the west then I would have bet you my entire bank account that you’re crazy. Luckily I didn’t have to because behold, they’re number 1. Coming in at number 2 are the Warriors with little surprise here. Everyone expects them to win again, with good reasoning because Boogie isn’t even playing yet. He’s supposed to come back in the next month or so and I feel bad for any team in their path. Finally third is the Nuggets. Another team who I never expected to be here. They’re quietly doing their thing and sit a half game up on the also surprising Grizzlies.

There’s still plenty of time in the season so we’ll see how these rankings keep up. Here’s to many more KD-Draymond fights.
