Le'Veon Bell Sitting Out 2018

Steelers’ star Running Back Le’Veon Bell did not report by today’s 4:00 pm Eastern deadline in order to be eligible to play this season. Therefore, Bell will sit out the entire season in an unprecedented move and will become an unrestricted free agent this coming spring. Bell’s absences resulted in the Running Back forfeiting $14.5 million dollars. Although that may seem like a lot of money to the average person, and it most certainly is; Bell has $80-100 million on his mind, and will likely command that type of pay day once he hits free agency.

Le’Veon Bell made a very unpopular choice in abandoning his teammates for his personal financial gain; however, very few of his teammates, if any, would financially come to his aide if he sustained a season or career ending injury. Bell will enter next season at 27 years old, so a four or five year deal may very well be his last chance to reap the financial benefits of his football abilities.
