Bills vs Lions Recap

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Detroit Lions 14-13, in what was an ugly game. Both teams are riddled with injuries and at points, the Bills played without a healthy Running Back. Josh Allen and the Bills were able to do just enough to win the game. If it wasn’t for a botched snap and hold on an extra point from the Lions, the game very well may have gone into overtime. The Bills improve to 5-9 on the season, and face the Patriots in New England next Sunday.

All things considered, the Bills defense played lights out. Yes, they allowed Kenny Golladay to catch seven passes for 146 yards, but they did bottle up every other receiver. Zenner and Reddick combined for 92 yards and a touchdown on the ground, but was able to get stops when they needed them the most.

As for the Bills, Josh Allen had another decent game. He is plagued by dropped passes and would have a significantly higher completion rate if his receivers hauled in more passes that hit their hands. The Bills started this season with very few, if any, existing young play makers on the outside; however, over the past few weeks, both Robert Foster and Isaiah McKenzie have made plays. Foster topped 100 receiving yards yet again, finishing with 108 and a touchdown, while Mckenzie hauled in six catches for 53 yards.

Marcus Murphy was the lead back until he was injured and Keith Ford played well, even though his stat line might not indicate that. Ford should get more opportunities to carry the ball this season, as I hope both McCoy and Ivory have played their last snaps of the season.

Today, was a nice team win and showed everyone Allen can win games without having to run for over a 100 yards. If this team gets some pieces on the outside and a lineman or two, Allen will be able to carry this team to multiple winning seasons in the coming years.
