Bills vs Patriots Preview
Who: Buffalo Bills (5-9) vs. New England Patriots (9-5)
When: Sunday, December 23rd 1:00 p.m.
Where: Gillette Stadium
The Bills play their final away game today against the Patriots. Earlier this season, the Patriots beat the Bills 25-6 in Orchard Park; however, Derek Anderson was our starting quarterback that game, and the game was 12-6 Patriots going into the fourth quarter. That said, I expect a close contest today. If the Bills play defense as well as they did last time, Allen should make all the difference.
The Patriots will also be without Wide Receiver, Josh Gordon who was suspended indefinitely following another failed drug test. It’ll be interesting to see if Gordon ever plays in the NFL again, which is a shame because he is one of the most physically gifted players in recent memory. The Bills should be able to match up well against a sub-par receiver group. New England has lost their last two games and now with the distraction of Gordon, it would-be shocking if the Patriots let another game slip through their fingers.
For the Bills, this game will be about keeping the Patriots in check and letting Allen take advantage of what the defense gives him. Early reports indicate that Chris Ivory will be held out once again, but as of this writing, I haven't heard anything regarding LeSean McCoy. In my opinion, he shouldn’t be playing anymore this season.
As I’ve mentioned over the past few weeks, yes, it’d be nice to have the Bills lose to improve their draft position, but it’s always nice to beat the Patriots. An argument can be made that a win in New England would be more beneficial for the future of the Bills than a draft position higher by one or two.
