Bills vs Dolphins Preview

Who: Buffalo Bills (5-10) vs. Miami Dolphins (7-8)

When: Sunday, December 30th 1:00 p.m.

Where: New Era Field

Kyle Willams will take the field one last time this Sunday as the Bills close out the 2018 NFL Season. The Bills and Dolphins have nothing to play for as they are both already eliminated from playoff contention. That said, this is still a rivalry game and Adam Gase, the coach of the Dolphins would surely like to get another win for his team as he is on the hot seat entering Black Monday.

The last time these two teams took the field, the game came down to the final play as Josh Allen threw a wide open Charles Clay just a tad short in the front of the end zone. With last game coming down to the final play, I suspect this game to have a similar outcome. Unlike in previous years, weather shouldn’t have any factor in the game, but attrition most certainly will. The Bills, like almost every other team will be limping to the finish line. I’m not too familiar with certain clauses in player’s contracts, but I'm sure some have built in guarantees for the 2019 season, if an injury were to occur. Hopefully, the Bills play it smart and try to avoid any of these situations. However, football is still a violent game and injuries are just part of the game.

Finishing the season 5-11, rather than 6-10 could have meaningful consequences on where the Bills' select in the 2019 NFL Draft. Either way, the Bills should still have a decent draft position and one more win shouldn’t ruin their draft strategy. Also, the Bills have plenty of players who they could easily trade for a mid to late round pick if they so wish, which could be packaged together into a higher first round pick, if the Bills felt obligated.
