Bills vs. Bear Preview (Preseason Week 4)
Who: Buffalo Bills (1-2) vs. Chicago Bears (2-2)
When: Thursday, August 30th 8:00 p.m.
Where: Solider Field
For the fourth and final preseason game, the Bills travel to Chicago to take on the Bears. This will be the fifth preseason game for the Bears as they participated in this year's Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. As of writing this blog, it is still unclear which quarterbacks will get the start this week, and which, if not, all three of the quarterback see playing time against the Bears. Obviously the game is pivotal for players on the roster bubble, but more importantly, the Bills, like every other team, needs to walk away from this game as healthy as possible. Most, if not all of the starters, will see very little to no playing time, and then it'll be up to the reserves to close out the remaining three to three and half quarters. As I have written about throughout the past few weeks, several position groups still have lingering battles and log jams. Some guys will need a strong showing to secure their spot, and some guys it'll be a little too late regardless of their performance.
Given the Offensive Line's terrible performance, I would suspect them to play a series or two, just to try and get back into the swing of things, but of course, not risking injury. Also, the coaching will need at least some consistency out of the group to be able to gauge how well the players around them play.
I think this should be a close game because the Bears are still rebuilding their team and lack solid depth in several position groups. It may be hard to watch at times, but nonetheless should be close.
After this game, I will publish my 53 man roster prediction for the Bills.
